James StrappJames Strapp is a Partner in the PricewaterhouseCoopers Power and Utilities Consulting Practice, based in Toronto.  He brings over 25 years of experience consulting to the energy and utility industry around the world, with particular focus on the introduction of disruptive technologies.

His expertise includes competitive electricity markets, smart metering, smart grid, GIS, advanced analytics, mobile solutions, program planning, and operational strategy.
Prior to rejoining PwC in January 2018, James was the global leader of IBM’s Energy & Utilities consulting practice, given him the opportunity to work with a diverse set of utilities around the globe, including the US, Western Europe, Japan, China, Malaysia and Australia.

In Ontario, James has held lead roles in province’s energy transformation, including the introduction of wholesale and retail competition, the implementation of smart meters, and some of the province’s most innovative initiatives in smart grid, dynamic rates and, more recently, the application of artificial intelligence.

With PwC, James leads the firm’s efforts in Digital Operations across asset-intensive industries, including utilities. His focus is on the effective approaches to applying digital approaches and disruptive technologies in a complex environments addressing safety, security, privacy and risk.
